
We were lucky enough to inherit an allotment with well planted borders and fruit trees. Come Spring these are bursting into bloom, bringing colour and life into the allotment. The trees also bring anticipation, for the fruit they’ll bring later in the year.
They also remind me that whilst all the holders garden their own plots allotments are very much a communal activity, in many ways in the present but also across time. Other people planted these tress, tended them though the years and enjoyed the many harvests they offered.

Elsewhere all the seeds we’ve planted are springing up in neat (or not so neat) rows. Now comes the job of warding off weeds, slugs and birds (a never ending job)
